QuestionAnswer
What is a rotation? A transformation around a point/center that moves the original point a certain point to create a rotated point.
What the rule for rotating a figure 90 degrees? (x,y) --> (-y,x)
(x,y) --> (-x,-y) What degree did i rotate by? 180 degrees
Whats another word for isometry? Reflection
How do you reflect a figure across the x-axis? (x,y) ----> (x,-y)
Whats the rule for reflection across the y=x ? (x.y)---> (y,x)
What is a point? Named a location and has no size.
How do you label a line? lowercase cursive letter or two points on a line
What is a vertex? Intersection of 2 or more lines, segments or rays.
How do you label a plane? 3 points on the plane or capital cusive letter.
What is a segment? A part of a line containing 2 points and all points inbetween.
How can you locate an endpoint? Just look for a capital letter.
What is a ray? Starts an an endpoint and extends forever in one direction
Whats the difference between a ray and an opposite ray? A ray is one line that extends forever, while an opposite ray is two rays that have a common endpoint.
What does collinear mean? Points that lie on the same line.
What does coplanar mean? Points that lie on the same plane.
How do you reflect a shape across the y-axis? (x,y) --> (-x,y)
How do you translate an image? Along a vector.
Whats the rule for translating along a vector? (x,y) ---> (x+a,y+b)
What is a line? A straight path with no thickness and extends forever.
What is line symmetry? When a figure can be reflected across a line so the images match up
What is line of symmetry? Divides the figure into two congruent halves.
What is rotational symmetry? If a figure can be rotated around a point by an angle betwwen zero and 360 degrees
What is plane symmetry? A 3-D figure can be cut by a plane and will create two equal figures.
What is symmetry about an axis? If a 3-D figure can be rotated around a line and the shape doesn't change.

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
