Parts of Speech

QuestionAnswer
noun person, place, thing, or idea
pronoun replaces a noun (he, she, they, it)
adjective describes a noun
verb action or linking (am, is, are, was, were)
adverb describes a verb or an adjective (often ends in -ly)
conjunction connects words, phrases (groups of words), clauses (sentences)
preposition describes direction and location (anything a squirrel can do to a tree)
interjection shows excitement or emotion (often set off with an !)
antecedent the noun the pronoun is replacing
