Statistics unit 1 vocabulary

QuestionAnswer
Population A group of people
Stratified Samples A sample with specific numbers from groups of a population
Biased Samples Samples that either over-represent or under-represent a group of a population.
Cherry Picking Only surveying people who support your cause.
Non Response Bias Only a small number of people given the survey actually respond to it.
Self Selected Samples When most of the people who reply to the sample feel strongly about the subject.
Random Samples People chosen to answer the survey are picked random among a population and everyone has an equal chance to be picked.
Measure of Central Tendency Values that describe a set of data simply like mean, median, and day.
Frequency Distribution Table Displays data in an organized way
Ungrouped Data Data displayed in a list
Grouped Data Data displayed in intervals
