QuestionAnswer
Absolute Value A number's distance from 0 on a number line.
Coefficient The number that multiplies the variable(s) in an algebraic expression.
Distributive Property Ex. 2(2y-x)= 4y-2x
Equation A mathematical sentance stating that two expressions have the same value, it also includes an equal sign.
Expression A mathematical phrase that contains variables, numbers, operations, and does not contain an equal sign.
Integers All the whole numbers,and their opposites, including 0.
Multiples The numbers that result from multiplying a given whole number by the set of whole numbers.
Numerator The number on top of a fraction that is the part of the whole.
Denominator The number on the bottom of the fraction that means the whole or complete set.
Quotient The result of dividing 2 whole numbers.
Variable Any symbol, usually a letter, which represents an unknown number.
Exponent The number of times the base occurs as a factor.
Fraction A rational number that the top side is the numerator and the bottom is the denominator, and also made to mean a part of a whole.
Ratio The comparison of 2 quantities.
Rational Number A number that can be expressed as a ratio of a/b.
Whole Number Any number in the set 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.....
