What is Absolute Value? A number's distance from 0 on a number line
What is Coefficient? The nummber that multiplies the variable(s)in an algebraic expression.
What is Denominator? Part of a fraction that represents the whole . EX: a/ b where b is circled.
What is Distributive Property? 2(4y+y) Multiply what is outside the parenthesis to EACH TERM inside.
What is Equation ? A mathematical sentance that includes an equal sign.
What is Expression? A mathematical phrase that contains variables,but does not contain equal signs.
What is Integers? All whole numbers and their opposites including zero.
What is Multiples? The numbers that result from multiplying a given whole number by a set of numbers.
What is Numerator? The part of a fraction the represents a part . EX: a / b where a is the example.
What is Quotient? The result of dividing two numbers.
What is Variable? Any symbol which represents a number.
What is Exponent? The number of times the base occurs as a factor. EX: 3 with an expoent of 2 = 3 times 3.
What is Fraction? A rational number expressed inthe form a/b
What is Ratio? The comparison of two quantities
What is a Rational Number? A number that can be expressed as a ratio a/b , and b cannot equal 0
What is Whole Number? The numbers in the set ( 0,1,2,3,4,...)
