noun person, place, thing, idea
pronoun used in place of a noun
verb shows an action/state of being or links another word in the sentence
adjective modifies noun or pronoun
adverb modifies verb, adjective, or another adverb
conjunction joins or connects words, phrases, or clauses
preposition shows relationship, position, or direction
interjection word/phrase (set off w/ punctuation) that shows strong emotion
