List poem a poem that is made up of a list of items or events, usually without transitional phrases
Color poem a poem that uses imagery and all five sense to describe a color
Definition poem a poem that takes a word or concept and attempts to define it, provide perspective, redefine it, or create a definitive example of it
Found poem a poem that uses existing texts and refashions/reorders them to be presented as a poem
Free verse a poem that is comprised of mostly unrhymed lines of poetry which has rhythm
Narrative poem a poem that has a plot and tells a story in rhyme
Nonsense poem a poem that is whimsical in tone and often uses fanciful phrases and meaningless made-up words
Riddle poem a poem that describes a concept or object and invites the reader to guess what the poem is about
Sound poem a poem that incorporates or describes a sound that you hear every day
Prepositional phrase poem a poem that is composed of imaginiative prepositional phrases that omits verbs of any kind
