Calcium Brick Red
Barium Green
Fe(II) Add NaOH, get a light green precipitate
Fe(III) Add NaOH, get a red/brown precipitate
Cu(II) Add NaOH, get a light blue precipitate
Calcium or Magnesium Add NaOH, get a white precipitate
Aluminium AddNaOH, get a white precipitate which dissolves after more NaOH added
Carbonate Add dilute acid, then test for CO2 with limewater
Sulphate Add HCl and Barium Chloride, white precipitate
Halide Add dilute Nitric Acid and Silver Nitrate, get precipitates (white, cream, yellow)
Nitrate Add NaOH and Al. Test for ammonia gas (damp red litmus turns blue)
