ponderous SYN: weighty, slow, and heavy POS: adj. DEFN: 1. of great weight, heavy, massive. 2. awkward or unwieldy. 3. dull and labored. SENTENCE: The mammoth in the movie, Ice Age had ponderous thoughts.
retention SYN: preservation, withholding POS: noun DEFN: 1. the act of retaining. 2. the state of being retained. 3. the power to retain; capacity for retaining. SENTENCE: We had to retain the excitement for later.
