Vocabulary

QuestionAnswer
Prose Generally divided into fiction made up stories and nonfiction.
Poetry A kind of rhythmic, compressed language that uses figures of speech and images that appeal to emotion and imagination.
Short Stories Short works of fiction, which can generally be read in one sitting.
Vignettes Short short stories. Vignettes are short sketches that are often no longer than a page.
Conflict Struggle between opposing forces. In an external conflict, a character struggles against some outside forces, such as an enemy or a hurricane
