Words used on the STAAR test

| Symbol | Something that stands for something larger than itself |
| Climax | Turning point of the story; conflict at its highest point |

| Protagonist | Main character; good guy |
| Dialogue | conversational exchange |
| Stage Directions | instruction in the text of a play |
| Inference | A conclusion based on evidence |
