| exponent | in a power, the number of times the base is used as a factor |
| expression | a combination of numbers, operations and/or variables with no equal sign |
| factor | a number that divides into a whole number with no remainder |
| function table | a table of ordered pairs that follows a rule |
| integer | a whole number or its opposite |
| justify | using numbers AND words to support your answer |
| order of operations | the sequence of steps used when solving problems with several different operations present |
| prime factorization | expressing a composite number as the product of prime numbers |
| variable | a symbol, usually a letter, used to represent a number |
