Definitions

QuestionAnswer
Enumerative Definition Example "Religion" Means hinduism Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Islam, Sikhism and the like.
Definition by subclass Example "living things" Means plants and animals.
Lexical Definition Example "Vixen" Means Female Fox. or "Aunt Means sister of one's father or mother.
Stipulative Definition Example Let us use the word Grellow to mean the color of things that are either green or yellow.
Precising Definition Example "Tall Man" means male human over 6 feet in height.
Theoretical definition Example "Human" means rational animal. Or A "wrong act" is one that fails to promote the general happiness.
Too Wide Example Square means closed plane figure having four right angles.
Too Narrow Example Marsupial means an australian Mammal
Obscure, Ambiguous or Figurative Ex: An Ellipse is a cross between a circle and a rectangle.
Circular Ex: Dog means a flesh eating domestic mammal similar to a wolf but having specifically doglike characteristics.
Unnecessarily negative Penguin means birds that can't fly NOT ostrich cassowary or emu.
Unsuitible Attribute An Octagon is a figured shape like a stop sign.
