Quality of Diction
| Question | Answer |

| Abstract | Words for concepts that cannot be directly perceived. Example: Honor, Love, Truth |
| Ambiguity | A word or phrase that can be read in either of two ways and the context does not make one or the other clear. Example: “It was a funny situation.” Laughable or strange? |
| Idiom | An expression whose meaning is not predictable from the usual meaning of its elements. Example: Kick the bucket, hang your head |
| Jargon | The language, particularly the vocabulary, peculiar to a particular trade, profession, or group. Can also mean unintelligible or meaningless talk or writing |
| Pedantic | Language with an overly scholarly or instructional tone. |
| Pretentiousness | Using big words to no purpose. Example: Upon receiving an answer in the affirmative, he proceeded to the bulletin board. |
| Vituperative | Hateful, extremely critical language |
