| Aside | In a play, words spoken by a character directly to the audience or to another character, but not overheard by others on stage |
| Comedy | In general, a story ends happily |
| Dialect | Way of speaking that is characteristic of a particular region or group of people |
| Dialogue | A conversation between two or more characters |
| Drama | A story that is written to be acted for an audience |
| Dramatic Monologue | A poem in which a speaker addresses one or more silent listeners, often reflecting on a specific problem or situation |
| Soliloquy | A long speech in which a character who is alone onstage expresses private thoughts or feelings |
| Tragedy | Play, novel or other narrative depicting serious and important events, in which the main character comes to an unhappy end |
| Tragic Hero | Usually wins self-knkowledge, and wisdom, even though he or she suffers defeat, posssibly even death |
| Tragic Flow | A person failing, such as pride, rebellious, or jealousy |
