| Personal Pronouns | Words that include the whole audience such as 'we'. |
| Anecdote | A short, often humorous story. |
| Association | Connecting an idea to something else positive. |
| Exaggeration | Extending the truth on purpose to make a point. |
| Pauses | A break in a speech. |
| Superlatives | Words that suggest something is the best it can be. |
| Glittering Generalities | Words describing ideals such as 'freedom' and 'democracy'. |
| Symbolism | The use of an image to represent something else. |
| Analogy | Comparison of one situation to another. |
