WordDefinition and sentence
Genteel Adj - refined; polite; aristocratic; affecting refinement The boy was very genteel; he picked up the girls books.
Grandiose adj - absurdly exxagerated The boy was sent to detention because of his grandiose comments.
Gratuitous adj - unjustified, uncalled for The girl was gratuitous because she gave her extra socks to the poor.
Gregarious adj - sociable The talkative lady was considered gregarious by her friends.
Hackneyed adj - overused, stale LOL, old and hackneyed, is barely used when texting now.
Hermetic adj - airtight The boy, a hermetic child, was never affected by peer pressure.
Ideology n - a system of social/political ideas The United States does not accept the ideology of communist nations.
Illicit adj - not permitted It is illicit to murder a person, and one can be put to death if found guilty.
Impetuous adj - impulsive, impatient At the doctor's office, the impetuous lady was crying hysterically because of the long wait to get medicine.
Impugn verb - to attack the truth of something During the debate, the candidate tried to impugn the morals of his opponent.
Incense verb - to make very angry The 5 year old was purposely whining to incense her older brother.
Increment n - one in a series of increases The teacher asked the class to count in an increment of 10.
Indignant adj - angry over something unjust The dog was indignant because the cat was sniffing its rear-end.
Indolent adj - lazy I become indolent on the weekends when I get a chance to do whatever I want to do.
Inept adj - clumsy, incompetent The wide receiver did not catch the ball, so he was considered inept.
Infatuated adj - foolishly in love The boys were infatuated by the girl's good looks.
Inundated adj - to flood; to overwhelm The hurricane was predicted to inundate the city with water.
Insurgent n - a rebel The insurgent gathered the secret information for the rebel headquarters.
Irascible adj - easily angered, irritable The teacher was irascible because the students were talking.
Integral adj - essential It is integral to read, because it can increase your intelligence.
Itinerant adj - moving from place to place The family was itinerant because the father changed jobs frequently.
