Linear Unit Units used to measure length, width, height, or distance
Inch (in.) A customary unit used to measure length or distance
Foot (ft) A customary unit used to measure length or distance; 1 foot = 12 inches
Yard (yd) A customary unit used to measure length or distance; 1 yard = 3 feet
Mile (mi) A customary unit used to measure length or distance; 1 mile = 5,280 feet or 1,760 yards
Capacity The amount a container can hold when filled
Teaspoon (tsp) A customary unit of capacity
Tablespoon (tbsp) A customary unit of capacity; 1 tablespoon = 3 teaspoons
Cup (c) A customary unit of capacity; 1 cup =16 tablespoons = 8 fluid ounces
Pint (pt) A customary unit of capacity; 1 pint = 2 cups
Quart (qt) A customary unit of capacity; 1 quart = 2 pints
Gallon (gal) A customary unit of capacity; 1 gallon = 4 quarts
