Vocabulary

vocabularyDefinition
fraction a number that names part of a whole or part of a group
numerator the number above the bar in a fraction. It tells how many of the equal parts of the whole or in the group.
denominator the number below the bar in a fraction. It tells the total number of equal parts in the whole or in the group.
equivalent fractions two or more fractions that name the same amount
mixed number a number made up of a whole number and a fraction
like fractions fractions that have the same denominator
simpliest form when a fraction is modeled with the largest fraction bar or bars possible
