2-Dimensional Shapes


Congruent Figures that are exactly the same size and shape.
Angle The amount of turn between two sides of a polygon.
Symmetry Mirror image
Line of symmetry A line divides a figure into two congruent halves that are mirror images (reflections) of each other
Hexagon Six sided polygon
Rectangle Four sided polygon that has four angles with opposite sides of equal length.
Triangle A three sided polygon.
Pentagon Five sided polygon.
Circle A plane curve everywhere in which all points are equal distance from the center.
Trapezoid A quadrilateral having one set of parallel sides.
Rhombus A quadrilateral with all side equal in length (diamond).
Parallelogram A four-sided plane figure with opposite sides parallel.
Square A special rectangle where all sides are equal.
