Collect and Organize Data

| Data | Information collected about people or things |
| Tally | A mark used to show how often something happens |
| Pictograph | A graph that uses pictures to show data |
| Survey | Gather information |
| Frequency | The number of times a response occurs |
| Mean | The average of the set of numbers, found by dividing the sum of the set by the number of addends |
| Median | The middle number in an ordered set of numbers |
| Mode | The number or item in the set of data that occurs most often |
| Range | The difference between the least and the greatest values |
| Outlier | The data value that stands out from the other data values in the set |
| Line plot | A graph that shows the frequency of data along a number line |
| Stem- and - leaf plot | A table that shows groups of data arranged by place value |
| Interval | The distance between the numbers on a scale |
| Scale | The series of numbers placed at fixed distances to label a graph |
| Cumulative Frequency- | a running total of frequencies |
| Stem | each tens digit in a stem-and-leaf plot |
| Leaf | each ones digit in a stem-and-leaf plot |
