| Covalent bond | two different atoms are sharing electron and causes them to be linked together. This helps them to have a full outer shell. |
| Non-metals | an element not having the character of a metal. Do not conduct well, not shiny, very brittle |
| Chemical formula | notation that indicates the type and number of atoms in a pure substance |
| Compound | a couple of different types of elements making up a pure substance |
| Chemical equation | a symbolic representation of a chemical reaction |
| Ionic bond | a bond between a positive ion and a negative ion that results in a neutral charge. Opposites attract |
| Qualitative | shows the qualities of a substance and has nothing to do with numbers (example how it smells, feels, tastes) |
| Quantitative | the qualities of a substance that has something to do with numbers (you can measure this) for example how big it is, mass. |
