Algebra II Ch 1

QuestionAnswer
Variable- a symbol that can be replaced by any member of a set of numbers or other objects Sequence- an ordered list Term- a number in a sequence
Algebraic Sentence- consists of expressions related with a verb A recursive formula/definition is for a sequence that is commulative with a cionstant rate up or down, normally by the way of multipication
Dependent Variable- a variable whose value always depend on the values of other variables Independent Variable- in a formula, a variable upson whose value other variables depend
P=5H, H is the number of hours worked, and P is the money earned for _ amount of time. P is the dependent variable becasue it relies on the independent variable (H) to determine its value.
Domain of a Function- the set of values which are allowable substitutions for the independent variable Range of a Function- the set of values of the dependent variable that can result from the substitutions for the independent variable
Function- is a relation inwhich no 2 different ordered pairs have the same first coordinate
Distributive Property- for all real numbers a,b, and c c(a+b)=ca+cb.
