| contents | the things that are inside a box, bag, room etc | The customs official rummaged through the contents of his briefcase. |
| distance | the amount of space between two places or things | Measure the distance between the two points. |
| frame | a structure made of wood, metal, plastic etc that surrounds something such as a picture or window, and holds it in place: | They removed the picture from its wooden frame. |
| lane | a narrow road in the countryside | We had a nice walk down a country lane. |
| myth | an idea or story that many people believe, but which is not true | Contrary to popular myth, the majority of accidents are not caused by speeding or drunkenness. |
| purpose | the purpose of something is what it is intended to achieve | The purpose of conducting a business is to make money. |
| rear | the back part of an object, vehicle, or building, or a position at the back of an object or area | The hotel overlooks the river to the rear. |
