| cinquain | (n.) a short poem consisting of five, usually unrhymed lines containing respectively two, four, six, eight and two syllables |
| free verse | (n.) free verse is a form of poetry which refrains from meter patterns and rhyme |
| haiku | (n.) a Japanese poem of 17 syllables arranged in 3 lines of 5,7,5 syllables |
| tanka | (n.) a 5 lined poem with syllables arranged in 5,7,5,7,7 |
| limerick | (n.) a 5 lined poem with the rhyme scheme aabba; usually meant to be funny and usally contains hyperbole and onomatopoeia |
| tone | (n.) the author's attitude towards the subject |
| mood | (n.) the feeling the reader gets from the passage |
| concrete poem | (n.) a poem that is a certain shape and the interpretation is written inside |
| pictogram poem | (n.) a poem written in a relevant shape |
| parallel poem | (n.) poems using repetitive lines |
