2. What news does Friar John bring to Friar Laurence? He did not deliver the letter because he was quarantined because of an outbreak of the plague. There was a plague in Manchu; no one could come in.
3. How does Juliet kill herself? She kills herself with Romeo's dagger. (She tried to get poison from Romeo's lips, but she fails.)
4. When Juliet awakes and sees that Romeo has drunk poison, why is she angry? She calls Romeo a churl; he drank all of the poison and did not leave any for her. (not even a friendly drop)
5. Why does Romeo not get the message from Friar Laurence? Friar John was quarantined.
6. Who is Balthasar and what news does he bring to Romeo? a servant He says that Juliet is dead and in Heaven
7. What does Romeo buy from an apothecary? poison (He talked the druggist into it.)
8. What last request does Romeo grant Paris? to lie next to Juliet in the tomb
9. Who explains to the Prince and the bereaved families what has happened? Friar Laurence
10. What do Montague and Capulet vow to build? Montague will build a gold statue to honor Juliet; Capulet will build one to honor Romeo
11. Why has Paris come to the tomb of Juliet? He wants to pay respects to Juliet.
12. How does Paris die in the play? He and Romeo draw swords at the tomb, and Romeo kills him. Paris thought that Romeo a Montague was going to open a Capulet tomb.
13. Who do Capulet and Montague decide to do after realizing what their hatred of each other has done to their children? They shake hands and agree to end the argument.
