Sentence a group of words that express a complete thought
Simple Subject "whom or what" the sentence is about
Complete Subject includes the simple subject plus its modifiers and/or complements
Simple Predicate tells something about the subject
Complete Predicate includes the simple predicate plus its modifiers and/or complements
Modifiers a word or group of words that qualifies, describes, limits, and characterizes the meaning of another word
Complements words that complete the meaning of other words in the sentence
Subject Complement a noun, pronoun or adjective that follows a linking verb and renames or describes the subject
Direct Object the receiver of the action expressed by the simple predicate
Indirect Object tells for whom or to whom something is done or given
Paragraph a series of sentences developing a single topic
Voice the way your writing sounds dtermined by your choice of words, sentence structure and tone
Tone an author's attitude toward the subjec he or she is writing
Unity Sentences in a paragraph express or support one main idea
Coherence following a logical sequence of thoughts to the writing
