Chronological Order Information presented in order it occurred; Earliest date to latest date
Cause & Effect Order Organized by stating the original PROBLEM and RESULT that follows
Compare/Contrast Order Organized by looking at similarities(how they are alike) and differences between two subjects.
Order of Importance Organized from least important to most important
Personal Narrative Story in first person(often a memoir or autobiography)
Journal Entry usually gives date/location; written in first person as to a diary
Anecdote short story related to subject; used as attention getter in essay introduction
Rhetorical Question Question asked to produce an effect instead of wanting an answer
Persuaive Writing Focused on convincing the reader to act or believe in a certain way
Expository Writing/Informational Writing Focused on giving information and facts to teach reader
