| batch | a group of people or things that arrive or are dealt with together | Every day another batch of papers reaches the manager demanding his attention. |
| blade | the flat cutting part of a tool or weapon | The blade of the knife flashed in the moonlight. |
| faith | a strong feeling of trust or confidence in someone or something | I still have faith in him. |
| mess | dirty/untidy | When I got home, the house was a complete mess. |
| origin | the place or situation in which something begins to exist | a new theory to explain the origins of the universe |
| parcel | an object that has been wrapped in paper or put in a special envelope, especially so that it can be sent by post | The parcel was delivered last week. |
| privilege | a special advantage that is given only to one person or group of people: | He had no special privileges and was treated just like every other prisoner. |
| result | something that happens or exists because of something that happened before | High unemployment is a direct result of the recession. |
