Survey Study of one or more characteristics of a group
Population Entire group you want information about
Sample Part of the population
Random Sample Every member of the population has an equal chance of being selected
Stratified Random Sample The population is divided into distinct groups, members are selected at random from each group
Systematic Sample A rule is used to select memebers of the pop.
Convenience Sample Only memebers of the population who are easily accessible are selected
Self-Selected Members of the pop. select themselves by volunteering
Representitive Sample Sample that accuratley reflects the characteristics of a pop.
Biased Sample Sample that is not rep. of the pop.
Biased Question A question that encourages a particular response
