Compare and contrast the compromises over slavery made by the delegates to the Constitutional Convention in 1787 with those brokered in Congress in 1820-1821 (Missouri Compromise) and those in 1850 (Compromise of 1850). Which was most effective and why? 1787 compromise- Northern States wanted to end slavery, and the south needed slaves for labor/ Compromise- North agreed to wait until 1808 before the congress would be able to ban slave trade.

and those in 1850 (Compromise of 1850). Which was most effective and why? CA admitted as free State, but ruled runaway slaves be returned to slavery. All Compromises were somewhat eff.
Why was there no new compromise over slavery in 1861? Slavery had died out when the North won the civil war. Since the North won the war they didn't have to do anything the South wanted or needed many slaves escaped to the N& argued against compromise i.e. john brown.
Why did Protestant Christianity and Protestant women emerge as forces for social change after the 2nd Great Awakening 1st & 2nd Great awakening was revival for church people to get more religious, Women played much larger role in 2nd awakening took role in writing& preaching weekly sermons which gave them a voice about taking care of the family & men should b fathful.
How did women become active and how would you Assess their effectiveness as reformers? The women were effective as in the result of the temperance movement.
Which government- the Union or Confederacy-imposed greater military & economic burden on its citizens? How successful was that strategy? Confederacy b/c they called for a draft for the army forcing young boys & men to fight. theyvplaced high tax& tariffs 2 rise $ for the confed. to help raise $ for the confederacy 2 help fight the war against the union it wasn't successful
