| Assonance | When the vowel sound in words with different contiences are repeated. Ex. Jake cannot Skate |
| Asyndeton | The writing of sentences without conjunctions. Ex. Live, Laugh, Love. |
| Catachresis | Incorrect use of words for effect. Ex. I literally died. |
| Connotation | A certain emotion association with a word or phrase. Ex. Instead of curious; weird. |
| Epanalepsis | Repeating the same word, clause, or phrase in the beginning and end. Ex. Nothing is worse than doing nothing. |
| Alliteration | A Figure that emphasizes the sound of the beginning consonant sound in two or more words in a sentence Ex. Teacher Taught me Time Tables |
| Allusion | A figure that casually references something such as a famous person, historical event, place, or work of art. Generally, the reference is well-known. |
| Analogy | A figure that contains a similarity between two things to make a point |
| Anaphora | Repetition of a word or phrase in two or more verses, clauses, or sentences. |
| Anesis | Adding a sentence that diminishes the meaning of what has previously been said. |
| Antimetabole | Words in a phrase or sentence is repeated exactly or closely in reverse order in the next phrase or sentence. |
| Antithesis | A figure which contains two contrasting ideas which unbalance the sentence. |

| synecdoche | a figure of speech wherin part something represents the whole. Ex. A hospital did this. |
