Math vocab

QuestionAnswer
nth term any term in a sequence or pattern
rate a ratio that compares two quantities measured in different units
starting point the value of the function when time equals zero
direct variation when two variables are related in such a way that the ratio of their values always remain the same
constant a term that does not contain a variable (in 3x + 4 , the 4 is a constant)
constant rate of change the rate of change in a linear relationship
trend a general direction either upward or downward
independent variable the input variable whose value in a function affects the output variable (x)
