Math vocab

QuestionAnswer
position the location of a term in a sequence
variable a symbol, usually a letter, used to represent a number
commission money earned for the sale of an item, usually a percentage of the sale price.
discount the amount of money saved on a purchase, which is subtracted from the amount of the purchase.
percent of change compares the change in quantity to the original amount.
rate a ratio that compares two numbers with different kinds of units (for example, gallons; hours, price; item, meters; second)
perimeter the distance around a geometric figure or the sum of all of it's sides.
area the number of square units covering a surface of a figure.
