| Scenerio | The written down plot that performances were based on. It was hung up backstage. Symbolism would tell what props to bring or how to enter as well as setting. |

| Capocomico | The leader of a commedia troupe. Usually one of the lead actors. Would run rehearsals, make arrangements, pay people. Francesco Andreini was the capocomico for I Gelosi. |
| The Andreini Family | Formed the company I Gelosi. performed 1569 -1604. Isabella was the big star. They were the first group to be patronized by nobility and started the tradition of l'comedie italienne: a resident commedia company in France. |

| Scaramouche | a roguish adventurer and swordsman who replaced Il Capitano in later troupes. A buffoon or boastful coward. Invented by Tiberio Fiorelli. Taught Moliere about Italian comedy? |
| Sganarelle | Moliere's clever servant in The Imaginary Cuckhold. Moliere was influence by Fiorelli's comedy Scaramouche |
| Pulchinella | Neapolitan hunchback clown. Becomes Punch of Punch and Judy. He's foolish because he's so dumb |
| Amoroso, Amorosa | M/F words for lovers. Dress up as pretty young people. |
| Giovan-Battista Andreini -"Lelio" | One of the most famous amoroso. "Lelio" was his character. |
| Isabella Andreini | Played the Amorosa. She was both an actor and writer and the star of the Andreini family. |
