Vocabulary for Real Numbers

| integer | a whole number or its opposite. |
| irrational numbers | numbers whose decimal form is non-terminating and do not have a pattern. |
| powers | numbers written using exponents. |
| Radical | a number that contains the symbol indicating that a square root should be performed (√). |
| ratio | the comparison of two numbers that can be written in various ways. |
| real numbers | all the numbers on the continuous number line with no gaps. |
| scientific notation | a way of expressing numbers as the product of a number that is at least 1 but less than 10 and a power of 10. |
| square root | one of the two equal factors of a number. “What number multiplied by itself gives me this number?” |
| standard form | describes a numerical value written out with no exponents. |
