Vocabulary for Proportionality

| discount | the amount of money saved on a purchase, which is subtracted from the original price. |
| percent of change | compares the change in quantity to the original amount. |
| proportion | an equation that shows that two ratios are equivalent. |
| sale price | the cost of an item after a discount has been subtracted. |
| tax | percent of original price that is added to that price; a percent of the purchase price that is added onto the original price. |
| tip | an additional percentage added to the cost of an item (meal, haircut, etc) given to a person providing a service. |
| unit rate | a rate with a denominator of 1. |
