Alliteration The repetiton of intial consonant sound. Alliteration is used to create meldoy,establish mood, and call attenton to certain words.
allusion An indirect reference to a person, thing event situation, or aspect of culture real or fictional,past or present. An alluison may draw from literature,myth, or he Bible
aside A remark spoken in an undertone by one character either to the audience or to another character which remaning characters do not hear.
chorus a single actor who recites the prollogue
couplet any two line stanza that contains a complete thought; couplets are usually rhymed.
foil a character who provides a strinking contrast ro a main character,thus calling attentiion to certain traits of the main charatcer.
foreshadowing the techinquw of providing the reader or veiwer with hinta,clues,or indications about the future action of a story or play; forshadowing prepares the reader for what is to come and helps them to anticipate the outcome.
irony in general, a cintrast between what appears to be what really is.
