Associative, Commutative, Inverse, Identity, Distributive

Commutative Property Change Order a + b = b + a 4 + 6 = 6 + 4
Associative Property Always Same: Think moving cheeks. a+(b+c) = (a+b)+c (7+3)+5 = 7+(3+5)
Inverse Property Opposite! (a) + (-a) = 0 1/a * a/1 = 1 8+ (-8) = 0 1/9 * 9/1 = 1
Distributive Property Dristributative a number through a parenthesis. -Watch for negatives! The sign always goes with the number behind it! a(b+c) = ab + ac 3(a+6) = 3a + 18
Identity Property No one can change you! a+0= a a*1=a 4+0 = 4 31 *1 = 31
