Drama Terms

| Aside | In drama, a few words or a short passage spoken by one character to the audience while the other actors on stage pretend their characters cannot hear the speaker's words. |
| Dialogue | The lines spoken by a character or characters, especially a conversation between two characters. |
| Monologue | A long speech by one character to another. |
| Soliloquy | A long speech given by a character when alone on stage that reveals feelings and emotions. |
| Stage Directions | Part of the printed text in a play that is not actually spoken by actors on stage, but which instead indicates actions or activity for the actors to engage in. |
| Comedy | A play which often has a humorous resolution to the conflict. |
| Tragedy | A play which often ends in the destruction on the main character. |
| Character foils | Characters who are opposite in order to contrast one another. |
| Drama | A piece of literatute that was intended to be performed on a stage in front of an audience. |
