"DMS" Literary Terms #1B

TermsDefinitions
Concrete Poem poem shaped to look like its subject (love poem written in the shape of a heart)
Conflict a struggle between two or more different forces
Description type of writing that creates a clear picture of something - person, animal, object, place or event
Details used to make writing more precise and descriptive
Biography story of a person's life written by someone else
Dialect how people speak (their accent or slang terms)
Dialogue conversation between characters in a novel
Drama story that is performed for an audience (on stage play)
End-Stopped Line in poetry where a pause naturally happens at the endof the line (usually because of punctuation)
Episode incident within a nevol or story (each week there is a new ____ that you can watch of the show Glee.
Essay nonfiction that deals with any subject
Exposition writing that presents facts or explains ideas
Fable brief folk tale told to teach a moral or lesson
