QuestionAnswer
Element (in chemistry) Any of the 107 substances that cannot be separated into simpler substances by using chemistry.
Atom The smallest particle of an element.
Nucleus The central part of an atom that includes nearly all of the atomic mass and includes protons and neutrons.
Proton An atomic particle in the nucleus of an atom that carries a positive charge.
Electron An atomic particle in the nucleus of an atom that carries a negative charge.
orbital One body circling around another body.
Configuration Arrangement of parts or pattern produced by such arrangement.
Atomic Number A number that is given to an element and equal to the number of protons in the nucleus.
Bond A means by which atoms or groups of atoms are held together.
Ion An atom or group of atoms that carry a positive or negative charge after losing or gaining one or more electrons.
Neutron An uncharged atomic particle that has a mass nearly equal to that of a proton.
