UST Physics

Motion in one and two dimension, vectors

How many significant digits will be in a sum or difference? The smallest number of decimal places of any term
How many significant digits will be in a product or quotient? The lowest number of significant figures of the factors
SI System for length, time, and mass meter (m), second (s), kilogram (kg)
CGS System for length, time, and mass centimeter (cm), second (s), gram (g)
British System for length, time, and mass feet (ft), second (s), pounds (lbs)
Distance Distance traveled along actual path (scalar value)
Scalar Having no positive(+) or negative (-) value necessary
Displacement Object's final position in respect to initial position (vector)
Displacement Equation DX = Xf - Xi
Average Velocity V[average] = DX/Dt = (Xf-Xi) / (tf - ti) (measured in m/s)
Speed V s = d/Dt (measured in m/s)
sin0 y/r
cos0 x/r
tan0 y/x
Motion Non-constant velocity needs to be averaged into slope of a straight line joining initial and final points
Instantaneous Velocity average velocity in limit as the interval becomes infintesimaly short.
Acceleration (Vf - Vi)/(Dt)
