vocabulary about restaurants

| Today's Special | a dish that is not on the menu; it is only available for that day |
| house dressing | sauce for a salad; the restaurant makes it |
| well-done | meat is cooked a long time |
| host/hostess | man or woman who show you to your table; take your reservation |
| waiter/waitress | workers who take your order and bring your food to you. |
| booth | a table that has soft benches to sit on |
| to eat in | to stay at home and eat a meal |
| to eat out | to go out to a restaurant for a meal |
| "Here you are," said the waiter. | "Oh, thank you," said the customer. |
| "all set" | I am finished...ordering...eating. |
| entree | main dish - meat dish, fish dish - after the appetizer |
| the check (noun) | the bill - shows the money that you owe |
| tip | extra money that you give waiter. Good service = large tip; bad service = small tip |
