Free Verse -n verse that does not follow a fixed metrical pattern
Genre -n a class or category of artistic endeavor having a particular form, content, technique

Hyperbole -n obvious and intentional exaggeration
Iamb -n unstressed syllable followed by a stressed one
Irony -n the use of words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning
Lyric Poem -n a short poem of song like quality
Metaphor a figure of speech in which a term or phrase is applied to something to which it is not literally applicable in order to suggest a resemblance (with out using "like" or "an"
Meter -n arrangement of words in regularly measured, patterned, or rhythmic lines or verses
Onomatopoeia -n the formation of a word, as cuckoo or boom, by imitation of a sound made by or associated with its referent
Oxymoron -n a figure of speech by which a locution produces an incongruous, seemingly self-contradictory effect, as in “cruel kindness”
Pentameter -n line of verse consisting of five metrical feet
Personification -n Giving an inanimate object human qualities
Plot -n storyline
Point of View -n the position of the narrator in relation to the story, as indicated by the narrator's outlook
Protagonist -n the leading character, hero, or heroine of a literary piece.
Rhyme -n identity in sound of some part, especially the end, of words or lines of verse.
Rhyme Scheme -n the pattern of rhymes used in a poem
Rhythm -n a patterned repetition
Round Character -n a character in fiction whose personality, background, motives, and other features are fully delineated by the author.
Setting -n the surroundings or environment of anything; the scenery and other properties used in a dramatic performance
Static character -n literary character who remains basically unchanged throughout a work
