Unit 1 Vocabulary words

QuestionAnswer
Associative Property When multiplying or adding, grouping doesn't matter.
Commutative Property When multiplying or adding, the order of terms can be rearranged.
Expanded Form A number written as the sum of each of its digits values.
Expression A number sentence without an equal sign
Front-End Estimation Evaluating an expression by first rounding to the left-most digit of each term.
Place Value The value of a digit in a number as determined by the location of the digit.
Identity Property When you perform an operation on a number and the identity, your answer is the number you started with.
Order of Operations The order in which you perform operations in expressions with multiple operations.
Standard Form The typical representation of a number, using digits in their correct places.
Value The number represented by each digit.
