Rhetorical Devices
| Question | Answer |

| Analogy | Reasoning, arguing, or comparing point-by-point; a comparison in which different items are compared; formal analogies are compared in this manner: a:b::c:d. This is read, a is to b as c is to d. |
| Hyperbole | Exaggeration for emphasis or for rhetorical effect. |
| Litotes | Understatement, for intensification, by denying the contrary of the thing being affirmed. (Sometimes used synonymously with meiosis.) "War is not healthy for children and other living things." |
| Rhetorical Question | A trope in which one asks a leading question. |
