Angles and Polygons; Terms

| Point | Exact position or location on a plane or line |
| Line | No beginning or end point |
| Ray | Straight line that begins at a certain point and extends forever in one direction |
| Line Segment | A part of a straight line that does not extend forever but has two distinct endpoints |
| Right angle | Exactly 90 degrees |
| Acute angle | Less than 90 degrees |
| Obtuse angle | Between 90 and 180 degrees |
| Straight angle | Exactly 180 degrees |
| Vertical angles | Opposite angles formed by the intersection of two lines |
| Congruent angles | Angles with the same measure |
| Complementary angles | Sum of angles is 90 degrees |
| Supplementary angles | Sum of angles is 180 degrees |
| Acute triangle | A triangle that has all acute angles |
| Right triangle | A triangle that has one right angle |
| Obtuse triangle | A triangle that has one obtuse angle |
| Scalene triangle | A triangle with no congruent sides |
| Isosceles triangle | A triangle with at least 2 congruent sides |
| Equilateral triangle | A triangle with all sides congruent |
| Quadrilateral | A figure with four sides and four angles |
| Similar figures | Figures that have the same shape but not the same size |
| Congruent figures | Figures that have the same size and shape |
