Abstract not attached to anything specific or concrete EX:Love,Hate
Active Voice Verbs thatis an action (As opposed to Passive Voice.)EX: Jane swweps the floor.
Ad Hominem An arguement attacking an indivuals charcters rather than issue. EX:Calling someone a lier than finding out the real issue.
Aesthetic Relating to beauty or to a branch of philosophy concerned with art,beauty,and taste. EX:
Allegory A narrative in which literal meaning correspondes directly with symbolic meaning EX: Animal Farm is an allegory to the russian revolution.(Napolen=Stalin Animal Farm=Russian Revolution)
Alliteration Repetition of simular constant sounds in the beginning of words EX:the descending dewdrops forboded evil to come.
Allusion A refrence with a literacy work to a historical or literacy person,place or event EX:Many things about Jim Casey in the Wrath Of Grapes seem to allude to Jeus.
Anachronism The mispalcement of a person,custom idea in time. EX:In Julias Ceasar a character mentions a watch.Watches did not exist in ancient rome(hey did exist though in shakesphere time)
Anadiplosis Repition of a word at the end of a phase sentence,ect.Which then begins the next phase clause,sentence ect. EX: I ran to the store.The store had plenty of Oranges fo me.
Analogy A comparison between two things that are otherwise unlike .often analogies draw a comparison bettween somthing abstarct and somthing more concrete or easier to visualize EX:Trying to get a confession out of the suspect was like pulling out teeth.
