Why are job descriptions identified in the AFECD general in nature? Because they apply to a wide range of jobs within the career field or subdivisions and do not include all duties and responsibilities of the specialty. (Due to unique base and MAJCOM requirements).
2W1X1- Who are they and what do they do? Aircraft armament- they load and unload nuclear and non-nuclear munitions, explosives, and propellant devices on aircraft. Also Manage, control, maintain, and install equitment (handling, loading, and test).
2W2X1- Who are they and what do they do? Nuclear Weapons- maintains, inspects, stores, handles, modifies, accounts for, and repairs nuclear weapons.
2W011- name and what they do Helper- they go to technical school and learn.
2W031- name and what they do Apprentice- go from helper to apprentice after completeing tech school. needs supervision. need to be certified on tasks and complete cdc's.
2W051- name and what they do journeyman- handles the BASIC tasks associated with the day to day operation of munitions. receive, ship, store, inspect, identify, recondition, issue, deliver, maintain, test, and assemble guided and unguided nonnuclear munitions.
What qualifications does it take to be a munitions systems helper? secret clearance, US citizen, mentally stable, normal color vision and depth perception, and a driver's licence.
What experience areas are mandatory for an apprentice to become a journeyman? warehousing, mechanical assembly, transportation, and accountability
2W071- name and what they do Craftsman- begains the supervisory level in the career ladder... supervise personell and operations. Plan munitions material management responsibilities
What qualifications must a person have to advance to craftsman/7 skill level? E5 or above, attend AFCOMAC, complete in residence munitions systems craftsman course, meet experience requirements in AFECD, be qualified to perform tasks required for position.
